“Physical” in physical fitness is just an expression. In a world where iron and steel are king, the mind is still the most valuable tool. The mind drives the body and Phase One Fitness is dedicated to teaching that principle so the effort that is put forth can truly translate into meaningful gains and noticeable improvement. After 40 years in the fitness world I’ve decided to pass down some of the plethora of knowledge I’ve accumulated over those years. I’ll discuss everything from the first day in the gym, to your first fitness drink, to your first contest prep and anything else that is pertinent to the world of Fitness. In our training we concentrate on the 4 D’s…..Dedication, Determination, Desire, and Discipline. By implementing these 4 principles one is able to define a goal, stay on the path to that goal, and meet that goal, just in time to define another one.

In this episode, Jerry briefly discusses the difference between aerobic and anaerobic exercise. Resistance training falls into the anaerobic category meaning that oxygen is one of the limiting factors in getting a good, intense workout. He discusses how to maximize oxygen supply and its' effect on ATP production, giving you those few extra reps which can turn a good workout into a great workout.
